The UICC's organisational leadership workstream aims to strengthen leadership and management capabilities of cancer organisations and their staff through learning resources, access to experts and opportunities for peer-exchanges.

Objectives

By leveraging UICC platforms, as well as catalysing external leadership expertise to design targeted learning offers, the workstream aims to deliver the following objectives:

  • Improve the capabilities of UICC member organisations to pursue their goals
  • Build management and organisational know-how across the UICC membership
  • Nurture leadership capabilities across the cancer community   
  • Create spaces for UICC members to discuss common organisational challenges and share good practices
  • Celebrate good organisational practices and recognise excellence in leadership and management

The UICC's leadership offer is only possible thanks to support and expertise from partners across UICC's communities. The workstream is supported by MSD as a founding partner with whom UICC has enjoyed a strong, several-years-long, partnership on leadership through the CEO Programme, and benefits from knowledge support by a number of organisations which have informed and contributed expertise to individual activities.

UICC’s Cancer Advocates programme supports civil society organisations (CSOs) from low- and middle-income countries to strengthen the skills, knowledge, and networks needed to drive effective national advocacy for improved cancer control. The programme materials are available in English, French and Spanish.

UICC's Virtual Dialogues provide members, and the cancer community, with regular opportunities to connect, exchange knowledge, access expert insights, and share solutions from the comfort of one's office or home.

Launched in 2018, the Patient Group Mentoring programme is a tailored mentorship programme dedicated to building capacity of a representative cohort of patient groups at the regional level.
