The objectives of UICC Scholarships are to:

1. Promote greater equity in those who are able to participate in these learning and networking opportunities, ensuring access and enabling knowledge exchange.

2. Increasing diversity in the views and discussions held, ensuring that events reflect the breadth and experience of the global cancer community.

In 2024, UICC’s Scholarships were launched, building upon the experience providing hundreds of travel grants in prior years, and seeking to streamline processes for member organisations in accessing and receiving this support.

A total of 247 applications was received during the year, and 96 scholarships were provided to individuals across 57 countries to support participation in the World Cancer Congress, and the WHO Regional Committee meetings.

What do the scholarship recipients say ?

UICC’s Scholarship gave me the "wings to fly" in cancer advocacy endeavors. Attending the World Cancer Congress 2024 is the most motivating thing that has ever happened in my career since COVID 19 era. It gave me not only the skills but the impetus to continue soldiering on with the fight against cancer knowing that our local efforts in Zimbabwe are noticeable and are part of the greater worldwide movement by UICC.
Lovemore Makurirofa, Cancer Association of Zimbabwe
Giving isn't just about making a donation; it's about making a difference. This scholarship was a marvelous opportunity to be the change we want to see in the world. People working together in a strong community with a shared goal and a common purpose can make the impossible, possible. Alone we can do so something, but together we can do so much.
Jacqueline Beuchot, FUCAM in Mexico
