United Nations Partners

UICC closely works with international organisations such as WHO, IARC, IAEA and enjoy consultative status with UNECOSOC.

UICC is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, a global health hub. It entertains official relations with the World Health Organization (WHO) and has partnerships with the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

In particular, WHO, IARC and IAEA are partners for UICC's World Cancer Congress and World Cancer Leaders' Summit. The Director-General of WHO, the Director of IARC and the Director-General of IAEA as well as other senior members of these organisations, are regular participants at these and other UICC events.

UICC also enjoys consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).

UICC works closely with the World Health Organization (WHO) on key items for the cancer and non- communicable disease (NCD) communities, such as the global strategy for the elimination of cervical cancer and the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control.

The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) is part of the World Health Organization. Its mission is to coordinate and conduct research on the causes of human cancer, the mechanisms of carcinogenesis, and to develop scientific strategies for cancer control.

Nuclear technology plays a key role in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer. Over the past six decades, the IAEA has gained strong technical expertise and experience in the delivery of nuclear medicine and radiotherapy technology to developing countries.
