UICC welcomes three organisations as new members
Medical and Community Support Organisation Uganda, Instituto del Cancer Redsalud, and Brazilian Society of Surgical Oncology (BSSO) are the newest organisations to join UICC as members.
UICC is delighted to announce the addition of three organisations to the UICC membership, from Uganda, Chile, and Brazil since the beginning of the year. They bring a wealth of expertise and dedication in global and regional efforts to reduce the burden of cancer.
Medical and Community Support Organisation Uganda
Based in Uganda, this organisation is at the forefront of championing awareness and prevention of cervical cancer and other cancers in post-conflict communities in Northern Uganda. They provide free cervical cancer screening and treatment services, advocate for cervical cancer screening in health facilities and communities, and address cultural myths related to cancer. Their efforts also include conducting research to broaden the understanding of cervical cancer and providing home-based care and economic support to families of cancer patients. Beyond cervical cancer, they work on raising awareness about prostrate and breast cancer.
Instituto del Cancer Redsalud
Located in Chile, this national cancer care network is dedicated to reducing cancer incidence through early diagnosis, patient care, and education. With headquarters at the RedSalud Vitacura Clinic, they are committed to promoting cancer education and research to improve patient outcomes and control the disease.
Brazilian Society of Surgical Oncology (BSSO)
Founded in 1988, the Brazilian Society of Surgical Oncology is a non-profit organisation that unites surgical oncologists and healthcare professionals dedicated to cancer care in Brazil. Recognised by the Brazilian Medical Association, BSSO plays a pivotal role in guiding the development, education, and practice of surgical oncology. Their mission includes promoting education and training, advancing research, fostering collaboration, and advocating for improved cancer care standards.
