The Brazilian Society of Surgical Oncology – BSSO (Sociedade Brasileira de Cirurgia Oncológica) is a non-profit organization founded on May 31, 1988, with the mission of uniting surgical oncologists and other healthcare professionals dedicated to the care of cancer patients in Brazil. In 2017, the Brazilian Society of Surgical Oncology was officially recognized by the Associação Médica Brasileira (AMB), the Brazilian Medical Association, as the official institution representing the specialty of surgical oncology in Brazil.
