C/Can2025 High Level Meeting on Financing Sustainable Cancer Control Solutions in Latin America

On the 18-19 April 2018, C/Can 2025  will host their first Latin American Regional Meeting in Montevideo, Uruguay. This meeting will see leading health finance experts from Latin America and around the world come together with C/Can 2025’s city leaders from Cali and Asunción, to discuss financing solutions for cancer care and treatment in the region.

The meeting will assemble Government leaders, health finance experts, impact investors and economists from development banks, multilateral institutions, the private sector and academia to engage in high-level panel discussions where they will explore opportunities to harness new financing for quality cancer care through innovative mechanisms.

A focus on sustainable financing solutions for cancer care and treatment is critical to the success of the City Cancer Challenge and all non-communicable diseases (NCDs) initiatives.

With the expertise of the assembled technical experts and with the mentorship of President Tabaré Vázquez and the City of Montevideo, this meeting aims to reach a key milestone for the C/Can 2025 cities in Latin America in terms of moving from assessment and prioritization toward actionable, costed and financed implementation plans.

This meeting also serves as a critical step in the development of a sustainable pipeline of investable assets in the region and as a platform to explore new and innovative financing solutions for improving health systems and cancer care infrastructure in low and middle-income countries.
