The C2C4C Latin American ride 2024: significant support for cancer research and awareness in the region
The C2C4C Latin American 2024 ride organised by UICC partner Bristol Myers Squibb has concluded successfully, with over 55 cyclists riding to raise awareness about cancer and funds UICC member organisations in the region.

The Continent 2 Continent 4 Cancer (C2C4C) Latin America 2024 ride is among several C2C4C events organised by Bristol Myers Squibb in the US, Japan, and Europe. Bristol Myers Squibb is a UICC partner, which supports community-based programmes that promote cancer awareness, screening, care and support among high-risk populations.
The ride took place from 1 to 12 December, involving more than 55 employees of Bristol Myers Squibb, from eight countries (Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Puerto Rico and the United States), who rode in teams, each covering approximately 360 kilometres over three days. The total distance of the ride was nearly 1,200 kilometres, from Pucón to Puerto Varas in Chile.
Their motivation to participate and advance cancer research is personal. Some are riding in honour of those who have lost their lives to cancer or are currently battling the disease. Others have experienced a cancer diagnosis themselves.
“The 2024 C2C4C ride is a shining example of what can be achieved when we come together for a common cause. UICC is grateful to Bristol Myers Squibb for organising this event and for its unwavering support and partnership with UICC. The company’s commitment not only enhances our collective efforts in cancer research but also brings hope and awareness to communities across Latin America.”
– Cary Adams, CEO of UICC
The fundraising period remains open till the end of the year. Bristol Myers Squibb will donate up to USD 50,000 to UICC to support rider fundraising efforts. Since 2022, more than USD 250,000 has been donated through UICC to its member organisations in Latin America thanks to the Continent 2 Continent 4 Cancer ride.
“For the third consecutive year in Latin America through Continent 2 Continent 4 Cancer, we continue our focus on advancing cancer research and the experience of patients and their caregivers. We welcomed our colleagues from Puerto Rico who participated in the C2C4C ride in Latin America for the first time, and drew inspiration from all the riders as they trained, prepared, and participated in the life changing C2C4C experience, with patients as their focus and the Union for International Cancer Control as our partner and beneficiary.”
