El recorrido en bicicleta recaudará fondos para las organizaciones latinoamericanas de lucha contra el cáncer miembros de la UICC

Del 1 al 9 de diciembre, empleados de Bristol Myers Squibb participarán en C2C4C América Latina, recorriendo casi 900 km por Chile. Su objetivo es recaudar fondos para organizaciones oncológicas latinoamericanas miembros de la UICC. Los ciclistas se han estado entrenando durante cinco meses y pedalean en honor a seres queridos afectados por el cáncer. Desde 2022, se han donado más de 620.000 USD a organizaciones benéficas de América Latina a través de la rodada C2C4C.

La primera edición de C2C4C se celebró hace trece años en Estados Unidos bajo el nombre de “Coast 2 Coast 4 Cancer”. Los participantes de Europa se unieron a la iniciativa en 2016 con “Country 2 Country 4 Cancer”, Japón en 2021 y América Latina en 2022 con “Continent 2 Continent 4 Cancer”.

C2C4C se ha convertido en una tradición consolidada y en un evento emblemático dentro de Bristol Myers Squibb, con más de 21 millones de USD donados a nivel mundial para la investigación contra el cáncer hasta la fecha.

¿Quiénes son los ciclistas?

Los participantes de la rodada C2C4C en América Latina son ciclistas principiantes que se han comprometido a completar cinco meses de entrenamiento intensivo para poder realizar su tramo de tres días del recorrido.

Este año, 45 empleados recorrerán rutas en América Latina y su motivación para participar e impulsar la investigación contra el cáncer es profundamente personal. Algunos pedalean en homenaje a quienes han perdido la vida a causa del cáncer o están luchando actualmente contra la enfermedad. Otros han vivido personalmente un diagnóstico de cáncer.

La rodada de este año contará con empleados de ocho mercados participantes: Argentina, Brasil, Chile, Colombia, México, Perú, Puerto Rico y Estados Unidos. Juntos, cada kilómetro recorrido ayudará a crear más momentos y recuerdos para las personas afectadas por el cáncer y sus seres queridos.

Por qué recaudar fondos para organizaciones contra el cáncer

El cáncer se encuentra entre las principales causas de muerte en todo el mundo. Cada año, hay 20 millones de casos nuevos y 9,7 millones de muertes relacionadas con el cáncer en todo el mundo, y estas cifras van en aumento.

About the ride 

From 1 to 9 December, Bristol Myers Squibb employees will participate in the C2C4C Latin America, riding nearly 900 km through Chile. Their goal is to raise funds for Latin American cancer organisations that are members of the UICC. The riders have been training for five months and are cycling for loved ones affected by cancer. Since 2022, more than USD 620,000 have been donated to charitable organisations in Latin America via the C2C4C ride.

The inaugural C2C4C ride was held thirteen years ago in the United States as the ‘Coast 2 Coast 4 Cancer’. Riders in Europe joined the effort in 2016 for the Country 2 Country 4 Cancer, Japan in 2021 and Latin America in 2022 as the Continent 2 Continent 4 Cancer.

C2C4C has become an established tradition and significant event at Bristol Myers Squibb, with more than USD 21 million donated globally for cancer research to date.

Who are the riders? 

The participants in the C2C4C ride in Latin America are novice cyclists who have committed themselves to five months of intensive training to complete their three-day segment of the ride.

Forty-five employees will cycle in Latin America this year and their motivation to participate and advance cancer research is personal. Some are riding in honour of those who have lost their lives to cancer or are currently battling the disease. Others have experienced a cancer diagnosis themselves. 

This year's ride will feature employees from eight participating markets: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Puerto Rico and the United States. Together, their miles will make more memories for cancer patients and their loved ones.
