The Ministry of Health of the Federal Republic of Somalia serves as the national lead agency for cancer control, policy coordination, and program implementation. Through the National Cancer Control Program (NCCP), the Ministry oversees cancer prevention, early detection, diagnosis, treatment, and palliative care across the country. Our work includes developing the first National Cancer Control Plan (2026–2030), establishing the national cancer registry, coordinating partnerships with WHO, IAEA, and UICC, and strengthening oncology services in major hospitals.
The Ministry also leads capacity building through training of oncologists, pathologists, and radiotherapy professionals, while promoting public awareness and early screening for priority cancers such as breast, cervical, and colorectal cancer. These efforts aim to reduce the national cancer burden and build a sustainable, equitable cancer care system for all Somali citizens.
