The Afghanistan Cancer Foundation (ACF) is a non-governmental, non-partisan and non-profit organisation founded in 2016 and working in Afghanistan to fight against cancer through raising awareness, palliative care and research services. The establishment of ACF resulted from an initiative from Afghan women who had been suffering from cancer. Eventually, Her Excellency, the First Lady of Afghanistan, supported the idea that led to launching ACF. The Foundation deeply feels the devastating challenges that cancer patients have been facing in Afghanistan due to the lack of an adequate cancer treatment and research centres. The aim is to fight against cancer by means of delivery of services for the wellbeing of patients and establishing a network of facilities in Afghanistan. Indeed, there is a great need for oncology health facilities in Afghanistan. Many cancer patients have to travel to neighbouring countries for diagnosis and treatment, which is not affordable for most of them.
