Outstanding Contribution to Cancer Control Award

Celebrating the outstanding work of individuals whose efforts have contributed to cancer care and control

Building on the success of the UICC members’ awards launched at the 2018 World Cancer Congress, UICC is delighted to announce the inaugural Outstanding Contribution to Cancer Control Award, to be presented at the 2019 World Cancer Leaders’ Summit (WCLS) in Nur-Sultan, the freshly renamed capital of Kazakhstan, during the WCLS Gala Dinner on 15 October.

As the major high-level policy meeting dedicated exclusively to furthering global cancer control, the WCLS provides the ideal setting to recognise those whose efforts have helped shape and deliver the cancer control agenda.

Intended to become a regular celebratory appointment for the cancer community during the WCLS, the award will seek to celebrate outstanding people and work, each time focusing on the relevant WCLS theme of the year.

2019 theme

In line with the 2019 WCLS theme, the inaugural Outstanding Contribution to Cancer Control Award will focus on Cancer and Universal Health Coverage (UHC). While this theme may touch on many levels, it particularly aims to highlight the work of those who have helped expand access to quality prevention, early detection, treatment and care for cancer.

Anyone can nominate any individual who fit the profile, except a member of the judging panel, or representative of an organisation sponsoring the award. Self-nominations are not accepted. View the T&Cs below for full details:

Nominations are currently open until 20 June 2019. Click the link below to access the nomination form:
