UICC Bourses pour l’Afrique Francophone (BAF)

UICC regularly reviews its capacity building programmes to ensure UICC programmes are not only contemporary but also targeted to meet the emerging needs of cancer control organisations and contribute to the development of cancer control at a country level.

Les Bourses pour l’Afrique Francophone (BAF) proposées par l’UICC sont destinées au personnel de santé et autres professionnels travaillant dans le domaine du cancer en Afrique francophone. Ces bourses visent à renforcer les capacités dans la région en permettant l’échange de compétences et la mise en place de collaborations. Elles offrent un financement pour des visites d'un mois dans d'autres institutions appropriées dans différents domaines: recherche opérationnelle et translationelle, prévention des cancers, détection précoce, épidémiologie, traitement du cancer, accompagnement multidisciplinaire des patients et soins palliatifs. Les projets doivent répondre aux besoins de l’institution d’origine et les participants doivent décrire comment ils allez diffuser les connaissances acquises à la suite de leur visite dans le cadre de leur proposition de bourse.

Dans le cadre du premier appel, nous avons reçu des demandes de bourses de haute qualité d’individus venant de plusieurs pays d'Afrique francophone. Nous sommes très heureux d'annoncer les trois lauréats du premier appel, venant du Rwanda, Sénégal et Maroc. Découvrez leurs projets ici

Le 2ème appel a été lancé le 1er juillet 2017 et offre l’opportunité aux individus des pays d’Afrique francophone de réaliser des visites dans un autre pays francophone - d’Afrique ou d’une autre région, avec une bourse pouvant aller jusqu’à 3’400 dollars US.

La clôture du deuxième appel est fixée au 1er octobre 2017

The UICC Francophone Africa programme (BAF) is aimed at health workers and other professionals working in cancer control in Francophone Africa. These fellowships aim to build capacity in the region by promoting the exchange of expertise and to develop collaborations. They provide funding for individuals to visit another institution for up to one month in order to develop skills in: implementation and translational research, cancer prevention, early detection, epidemiology and cancer treatment, as well as multidisciplinary cancer control and palliative care. Projects should aim to fulfil unmet needs of the home institution and participants will be expected to outline their plans to disseminate the knowledge gained following their visit, as part of their fellowship proposal.

For the first call we received high quality applications from individuals coming from several countries within Francophone Africa. We are very pleased to announce the 3 awardees of this call, coming from Rwanda, Senegal and Morocco. Please click here to discover their projects.

The second call opened on July 1st 2017 and provides individuals from Francophone Africa the opportunity to visit another French-speaking country – Africa or further afield, with a budget of up to 3,400 USD
