Facts on the tobacco industry, tobacco and health
The tobacco industry continues to exert a devastating toll on global health, with eight million deaths annually and pervasive exposure to harmful chemicals and carcinogens. Despite efforts to reduce smoking rates, 1.3 billion smokers worldwide fuel an industry that profits from addiction and disease, while emerging tobacco products pose new threats, particularly to younger generations.
