Launch of the Supportive Care Network

The Union for International Cancer Control and Cancer Council Queensland launched the UICC Supportive Care Network on the occassion of the World Cancer Leaders' Summit on 17 November 2015.

Hosted on the International Cancer Control Partnership Portal (ICCP Portal) www.iccp-portal.org, the Network's goal is to promote the provision of evidence-based supportive care to improve quality of life for cancer patients worldwide, accelerating progress towards attainment of the UICC's World Cancer Declaration.

The Network will offer a multi-media portal exploring the latest evidence on supportive care theories and practice, harnessing the potential of emerging technologies to strengthen cost-effective collaboratioins in supportive care. The Network will have four main sub-groups, focused on psycho-oncology, peer support, medical care and community engagement. The Network will assist cancer planners, governments and advocates with demonstrating the supportive care needs of people affected by cancer, building the capacity of supportive care systems and practices, implementing supportive care screening into routine practice, and addressing supportive care needs through referrals and systemic integration.

About the ICCP Portal

The ICCP portal is a unique initiative that brings the experience and best practice knowledge of leading cancer organizations and experts and offers policy-makers and cancer planners an online platform, dedicated to providing selected resources and tools on cancer control all in the convenience of ONE PLACE.

Discover the resources the Portal offers:

  • Selected resources on planning and capacity-building for cancer control:  The library of resources provides access to materials and tools on cancer control planning and capacity-building at local, national and regional levels.
  • National cancer plans: Perform a search on more than 100 cancer plans and emerging NCD plans on a specific topic or area along the cancer care continuum. 
  • Best practices and experience: Case studies on experiences in the field of cancer control and Networks related to specific topics on the cancer care continuum that pull the latest evidence together and identify best practices in those fields. 
  • Technical assistance opportunities: Access technical assistance from Partners and places you in contact with stakeholders.
