Virtual Dialogue: Incorporating the voices of children, families, and young adults with cancer into nutrition and physical activity guidance
9 September 2026, 14:00-15:30 CEST
Nutrition and physical activity are essential components of supportive cancer care before, during and after treatment. However, the needs of children, teenagers and young adults (CTYA) often differ from those of adults, reflecting concerns related to growth, development, fertility, education, body composition and the long-term effects of treatment.
Adults living with cancer may face challenges linked to weight change, malnutrition, comorbidities and returning safely to everyday activity. Across all age groups, people living with cancer and their families frequently report uncertainty about what to eat, how much to exercise, and where to find advice that is evidence-based, consistent and tailored to their individual circumstances.
This Virtual Dialogue will place the voices of people living with cancer and their families at the centre of the discussion. Through lived-experience perspectives, participants will explore how nutrition and physical activity support can better meet the needs of people living with cancer across the cancer continuum.
Participants will:
- Explore common challenges, priorities and unmet needs related to nutrition and physical activity.
- Identify gaps in current support and opportunities to strengthen patient-centred care.
- Discuss how health professionals, people living with cancer and their families can work together to improve access to practical, tailored and evidence-based guidance.
This Virtual Dialogue is hosted in collaboration with ICONIC:
