The Tumour Ecosystem: from Mechanisms to Novel Therapeutics

The second edition of this conference topic will cover the latest exciting breakthroughs in the study of the tumour microenvironment.

Designing efficient novel therapeutics cannot be achieved without understanding the dynamics of the tumour microenvironment or of reciprocal cancer-stroma interactions and how they are modulated by cancer treatments. With this in mind, the conference will cover the intricate interactions of cancer cells with the immune system and with specific stromal cells in multiple organs, novel insights into tumour-host interactions including the nervous system, and response to therapy.

If you’re interested in translational cancer biology, immunology, and therapeutics – whether you’re a scientist, postdoc, graduate student, industry scientist, or journal editor – then this conference is not to be missed. Submit your application by 19 January 2026 for the chance to present your work and register by 16 February 2026 to join us in Bergamo.

Speakers: Leila Akkari (NKI, Amsterdam) | Direna Alonso-Curbelo (IRB Barcelona, Spain) | Neta Erez (Tel Aviv University, Israel) | Dinorah Friedman-Morvinski (Tel Aviv University, Israel) | Johanna Joyce (University of Lausanne, Switzerland) | Ilaria Malanchi (Francis Crick Institute, UK) | Anna Obenauf (IMP, Vienna) | Mikael Pittet (Agora, Switzerland) | Daniela Quail (McGill University, Canada) | Erik Sahai (Francis Crick Institute, UK) | Yardena Samuels (Weizmann Institute, Israel) | Andrea Schietinger (MSKCC, USA) | Mara Sherman (MSKCC, USA) | Jacco van Rheenan (NKI, Amsterdam) | Ashani Weeraratna (Johns Hopkins University, USA) | Frank Winkler (DKFZ, Germany)
