60th anniversary of IARC
IARC celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2026 with global events and a major scientific conference in Lyon. UICC is an official partner.
In 2026, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) marks its 60th anniversary, commemorating six decades of advancing knowledge on cancer causes and prevention. This milestone will be celebrated through a series of international events and a flagship scientific conference scheduled for 19–21 May 2026 in Lyon, France.
The conference will bring together experts from around the world to discuss key themes such as discovery for prevention, translating evidence into practice, and strengthening science-policy interfaces. Researchers are encouraged to contribute to this dialogue by submitting abstracts aligned with IARC’s core pillars:
- Data for Action
- Understanding the Causes
- Translating Knowledge into Prevention
- Knowledge Mobilization
The Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) is an official partner in these celebrations, reinforcing a shared commitment to global cancer control and prevention.
Call for abstracts: Abstract submissions for the May 2026 conference will close on 19 January 2026. Further details, including submission guidelines and registration information, are available on the official IARC CIRC60 website.
This anniversary offers an opportunity for the global research community to reflect on progress, share new findings, and shape the future of cancer prevention.
