The 5th Sapporo Conference for Palliative and Supportive Care in Cancer (SCPSC)
The SCPSC is held every three years and brings together the world's leading experts in cancer palliative care to discuss issues of non-competitive importance. We welcome all those involved in palliative oncology and psycho-oncology, as well as in palliative care for non-cancer conditions.
Since the last few years, research and practice in palliative care have reached a turning point.
The 5th SCPSC has attempted to organize innovative programs in palliative oncology and psycho-oncology.
All four symposia are innovative and thought-provoking,
(1)A focus on Opioids, which are symbols of cancer palliative care, and discussing their relationships with the nervous, immune, and endocrine systems
(2)Covering palliative cancer treatments such as chemotherapy and including immunotherapy
(3)psycho-oncology
(4)recent developments in light of the essential arguments for euthanasia
We have also scheduled an educational lecture on,
(1) “Comparative Cultural Studies of Spirituality and Spiritual Care."
(2) "Future Care Planning-European perspective on better planning for palliative care patients.”
Special lecture will also be given by Dr. Herwig Czech on “The Lancet Commission on medicine, Nazism, and the Holocaust: historical evidence, implications for today, teaching for tomorrow.
