UICC Solidarity Fund final grants awarded from funding available
UICC thanks all the donors that contributed to its Solidarity Fund for Ukraine, which has mobilised over USD 1M to support cancer patients impacted by Ukraine conflict
UICC established an emergency Solidarity Fund in 2022 to assist cancer organisations to support patients affected by the conflict in Ukraine. It served as a vehicle to signal the unity and spirit of the cancer community, supporting projects addressing the impact of the crisis on cancer patients and their families from Ukraine.
The Solidarity Fund received over USD 1M USD in donations from 15 different cancer organisations. 78 grant applications have been received from cancer societies supporting cancer patients and their families affected by the conflict in Ukraine since the call for applications opened on 25 April 2022.
In total, 48 grants have been awarded to 22 organisations to help cover the operational costs of organisations based in Ukraine, support the acquisition of urgently required medicines and equipment, contribute towards the costs of transporting cancer patients and their families out of Ukraine, and train and support health workers providing treatment and care.
UICC has recently awarded the final grants from the funding available; therefore, the call for applications is now closed.
UICC, and on behalf of the Ukrainian cancer community, would like to thank all donors for their generous contributions to the Fund, which has provided invaluable support to cancer organisations in their efforts to support cancer patients affected by the conflict.
