Inaugural Cancer Planners Forum in Geneva

UICC is pleased to announce the inaugural Cancer Planners Forum, set to take place from 14-16 May 2025 in Geneva, Switzerland, bringing some 150 participants from over 75 countries leading national cancer control planning efforts.

The Cancer Planners Forum aims to provide a unique platform for policymakers and other decision-makers involved in developing and implement national cancer strategies to network, exchange best practices, and form partnerships across national boundaries.

The event will feature a series of presentations, working group sessions, and networking opportunities focused on:

  • Best practices in developing and implementing NCCPs
  • The investment case for NCCPs
  • Case studies on successful national responses to cancer control
  • Measurement and evaluation, including the role of cancer registries
  • The law and cancer

The Cancer Planners Forum is organised by UICC in partnership with the World Health Organization (WHO), the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and the International Cancer Control Partnership (ICCP).

The Forum will bring together up to 150 individuals from up to 75 countries responsible for national cancer control plans (NCCPs) or equivalent regional, state, or city-level plans. UICC Board Members, experts from ICCP partners, WHO, IARC, IAEA, and invited experts from among UICC members, partners, and sister organisations, will also attend the event.

The Forum is designed to provide cancer control planners with valuable knowledge and a network of like-minded individuals to enhance global cancer control plans. It also aims to attract additional funding for implementing cancer control plans, promote international cooperation, and establish best practices for measurement and evaluation.

Participants will also be able to interact and share information on UICC Connect before the event. This platform will complement the WHO Knowledge Action Portal and ICCP Project ECHO and Basecamp community of practice for National Cancer Control Planning.

The Cancer Planners Forum will be held at the Pavillon Gallatin, between UICC’s offices and the WHO, immediately before the World Health Assembly (WHA), providing delegates with the opportunity to attend both events.

The event is invitation-only.
