Mentoring programme for UICC members working in women’s health

This mentoring programme offers selected organisations one-on-one support from expert mentors to help them tackle specific management and organisational challenges.

In addition to mentoring, the programme includes an organisational health check – a structured self-assessment tool to evaluate how well the organisations are functioning across key areas – and group discussions that explore shared issues across different contexts. All sessions are led by experienced consultants from Stone Soup Consulting, who specialise in supporting civil society organisations.

Building on UICC's self-guided course 'Management Essentials for Civil Society Organisations in the Cancer Control Space, the programme is designed to provide additional tailored support for organisations focused on women’s cancers – areas often marked by serious health inequalities.

Each selected organisation will receive

• A tailored report based on their responses to a self-assessment organisational health check

• A one-hour online meeting with their mentor(s) to review the results and agree on priority areas to focus on during the mentoring sessions

• Six hours of personalised mentoring, delivered in three two-hour online sessions, covering the agreed topics

• Two one-hour group sessions exploring common themes that emerged from the health check exercises

Participating organisations will be expected to

• Complete the organisational health check survey

• Work with their mentor(s) to identify and agree on key topics for the mentoring sessions

• Commit to a mutually agreed schedule and complete all mentoring sessions within the given timeframe

• Share relevant organisational documents (such as annual reports, strategic plans, or business plans) to support the mentoring process

• Take part actively through a lead staff member in a senior role, involving other team members as needed, and complete any preparatory work between sessions

• Join the two guided group sessions

Application process

Only UICC members are eligible to apply. Selection criteria include:

• Organisational focus on women’s cancers;

• Readiness of the organisation to strengthen its management practices;

• Motivation and organisational commitment to engage in the programme.

Applications will be open during the month of May 2025 and reviewed on a rolling basis. Organisational health checks for selected organisations are expected to be finalised in June 2025 and the mentoring sessions to take place between July and December 2025 (with the possibility to extend into 2026 if required, subject to agreement with UICC).
