UICC to convene global cancer leaders in Melbourne for the 2025 World Cancer Leaders’ Summit
UICC’s World Cancer Leaders’ Summit taking place in Melbourne from 18–20 November will feature high-level discussions and presentations, including the launch of the World Cancer Declaration 2025–2035. The event is hosted by Cancer Council Victoria and supported by the Melbourne Convention Bureau.

Held under the theme Bridging divides, building futures, UICC’s upcoming World Cancer Leaders’ Summit rallies the leaders of the global cancer community around a shared agenda.
UICC will launch the new World Cancer Declaration 2025–2035, presenting a refreshed framework for national cancer control efforts over the next decade. Built around the ‘5x5x5 by 2035’ model, the Declaration sets out five targets, five domains for action, and five core principles to guide implementation.
The programme features a range of sessions designed to foster strategic dialogue and collaboration. These include discussions on national cancer control planning, improving access to care through stronger health systems, and promoting people-centred approaches to cancer services.
TheUN Agencies panel discussion will feature speakers such as Elisabete Weiderpass, Director of the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) and André Ilbawi, Cancer Control Lead at the World Health Organization (WHO), both IARC and WHO are traditional partners of the Summit. The session will examine global developments in cancer control following the UN High-Level Meeting on Noncommunicable Diseases (NCDs) in September, with insights from the WHO Global Status Report on Cancer and looking at future directions and priorities.
Sessions will also explore the elimination of cervical cancer, the integration of lung cancer into national strategies, and the equitable implementation of innovation, including artificial intelligence, across resource settings. Discussions on cancer care in indigenous communities and the role of international partnerships will further highlight the importance of inclusive and locally responsive solutions
UICC gratefully acknowledges the support of the Melbourne Convention Bureau, whose financial and logistical contribution has been instrumental in enabling this important gathering of global cancer leaders.
The Summit is an invitation only-event for CEO’s and senior representatives of major cancer societies, research institutes, hospitals, UN agencies, civil society organisations, and government ministries.
