Zimbabwe Society of Oncology Pharmacy (ZSOPH)

The Zimbabwe Society of Oncology Pharmacy (ZSOPH) is actively involved in strengthening cancer care across Zimbabwe through the collective efforts of its membership. By bringing together oncology pharmacists, researchers, and pharmacy leaders, ZISOPH promotes high-quality, evidence-based cancer treatment and safe medicine practices in hospitals, clinics, and community settings. Members contribute expertise to multidisciplinary cancer care teams, including cervical and breast cancer MDTs, advising on treatment regimens, dosing, toxicity management, and patient counselling to ensure comprehensive, patient-centred care. Through coordinated advocacy, ZISOPH members work to improve access to essential oncology medicines and supportive care drugs, addressing supply chain challenges and promoting equitable treatment for patients nationwide. The society also invests in professional development, offering mentorship, workshops, and training programs that enhance the knowledge and skills of oncology pharmacists and allied healthcare professionals.ZISOPH’s collective membership engages in public education and awareness initiatives, empowering communities and patients with information on cancer prevention, early detection, safe medicine use, and adherence to therapy. Members also contribute to research, policy development, and health system strengthening, ensuring pharmacy perspectives are integrated into national cancer strategies and programs. Innovative initiatives led by ZISOPH members, such as specialized oncology pharmacies, integrated cancer clinics, and optimized medicine distribution models, have improved continuity of care and patient outcomes. Through these collaborative activities, ZISOPH strengthens the role of oncology pharmacists, advances cancer care standards, and contributes meaningfully to Zimbabwe’s national efforts to reduce the burden of cancer.
