Each year, around 600 children in the Netherlands are diagnosed with cancer, and tragically, one in four does not survive the disease.
When a child faces a serious illness like cancer, the priority is clear: cure. At the Princess Máxima Centre for Paediatric Oncology, a pioneering and dedicated team works every day to improve both the survival rate and the quality of life for children with cancer—now and in the future. These children have their whole lives ahead of them.
The Princess Máxima Centre is not a conventional hospital; it is a research hospital where all children in the Netherlands with cancer receive treatment. This unique approach makes it the largest paediatric cancer centre in Europe. More than 450 researchers and 900 healthcare professionals collaborate closely with hospitals across the Netherlands and internationally to develop better treatments and explore new possibilities for cures.
Through this collective effort, today’s children receive the very best care, while vital progress is made to increase survival rates for those who are not yet cured.
