Pink Africa Foundation

Pink Africa Foundation founded in January 2017, networks globally to sustainably improve the educational, social and health status of the African woman and child, especially in under-served communities. Every October, Pink Africa Foundation organises the Calabar Go Pink Day (CGPD), the biggest health walk and outreach in the city – bringing together partners from all walks of life, to fight the scourge of breast cancer. In 2021, the CGPD campaign was a 50-day awareness project, starting with a Boobs Pledge, raising awareness on the need for early detection and regular screening. Free cancer screening was carried out by medical volunteers at the end of the 6km awareness walk on the D-day. We carry out quarterly cancer awareness and screening in Faith based organisations and communities in the Niger Delta regions of Nigeria. Pink Africa Foundation provided support for cost of surgery for 20 breast cancer patients in 2021, and donated locally fabricated post mastectomy bras to 350 breast cancer survivors across Nigeria. Currently, we have began free post mastectomy bra donations to 20 randomly picked hospitals in Nigeria, to cater for post mastectomy needs of 20 patients in each of the 20 hospitals, giving a total of 400 post mastectomy bras. We have at the moment, given out 40 post mastectomy bras to 2 hospitals, we have 18 more hospitals to reach out to before the end of 2022. These post mastectomy bras are locally fabricated and modified to suit the needs of this women. The Foundation partners with corporate organisations, health facilities, schools and religious organisations to provide succor to African women and children in line with its core goals, through our commemoration of World Cancer Day, World Menstrual Hygiene Day, Back to School projects, amongst others.
