KIMS Konaseema focuses on advancing cancer control through AI-driven and community-based approaches.
KIMS Konaseema, the first and only medical college serving the Konaseema region of Andhra Pradesh, is building a strong, evidence-based model for cancer control that combines research, innovation, and community participation. The region faces unique cancer risks linked to its coastal geography, occupational exposures, and dietary habits. Our work prioritises early detection, awareness, and access to quality cancer care for people living in rural and hard-to-reach areas.
Through our innovation arm, MedhAnkura, we have implemented existing technologies such as Gyne Eye and developed new screening devices for breast and oral cancer. We are also developing the AI-integrated Multi-Antigen Lateral Flow Immunoassay (LFIA)—a patent-pending rapid blood test designed for early cancer detection. These technologies are deployed by trained community health workers during outreach and screening camps, supported by the Ayuvu Command Centre, which coordinates follow-ups, teleconsultations, and emergency care.
Our integrated approach spans prevention, screening, treatment, and palliative care, supported by national health schemes such as Ayushman Bharat and Arogyasree. Recognised at the UICC World Cancer Congress 2024 (Geneva) and EAPC 2025 (Helsinki), KIMS continues to demonstrate how locally developed, AI-enabled innovations can make cancer care more inclusive, affordable, and accessible to rural communities.
