Congo Cancer Foundation

Congo Cancer Organization (CCF) in a non-profit organization whose mission is the improve cancer control in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It is involved in many activities including in the field of education, research and patient-centered health care delivery. Since its inception, CCF has been instrumental in various activities: implementation and conduct of free screening services mainly targeting disadvantaged areas of the Kinshasa region, awareness activities about cervical and breast cancer within communities and engaging local spiritual and community leaders as they culturally influence how the population perceive cancer. Moreover, CCF has organized various education activities on breast cancer and recently the ASCO Multidisciplinary Cervical Cancer Management Course in collaboration with the American Society of Clinical Oncology as well as the 1st Breast and Gynecological cancer International Conference (www.bgcc-kin.com) in Kinshasa, the Democratic Republic of the Congo. These educational activities aimed at providing the medical and scientific community with a summary of the most significant treatment advances in the field of breast cancer and gynecological cancers, reviewing the current standard of care for key malignancies from a local and international perspective and discussing the current controversies in the management of specific cancers. CCF also has a program to help cancer patient navigate the health care system when seeking care for the disease. CCF is also sponsoring and conducting a study on the leveraging the self-sampling method for the screening of HPV infection and cervical cancer in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This project is meant at targeting the cervical cancer elimination strategy as planned by the WHO by the year 2030. One of the upcoming projects in cancer control in the building of hospital-based cancer registry in Kinshasa, which is a major step in effective cancer control in the country.
