Association Of Medical and Pediatric Oncologists of Kerala (AMPOK)

Founded in 2017, AMPOK comprises 132 medical and pediatric oncologists across Kerala, functioning as a self-funded professional association dedicated to advancing oncology practice and fulfilling social responsibilities. We organise continuing medical education (CME) programs, regional and national conferences, and monthly online postgraduate training sessions. AMPOK actively designs and conducts population-based surveys to assess cancer awareness, risk factors, and plans for prevention strategies, providing vital evidence for the development of tailored educational interventions and informed policy making. Our community outreach, including free screening camps and awareness programs, thus addresses gaps in prevention, early detection, treatment access, and stigma reduction in cancer care. The association supports state-level cancer control policies by collaborating with the Kerala Cancer Control Advisory Board to implement strategies that reduce healthcare inequities. AMPOK has initiated the process of signing an MoU for cancer research with the Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology, Thiruvananthapuram.A major stride in Kerala’s cancer control landscape is the annual Kerala Cancer Conclave, conceived and led by AMPOK. This landmark two-day event convenes over 200 cancer experts, policymakers, researchers, and industry leaders from India and abroad to address Kerala-specific challenges in cancer care. The Conclave fosters multidisciplinary collaboration by engaging government officials, media representatives, and patient advocates alongside clinicians and scientists.AMPOK stands as a leading force in Kerala's fight against cancer, uniquely blending clinical expertise, research, education, advocacy, and social responsibility. We look forward to collaborating with other states of India and neighbouring countries in the near future.
