Breast Cancer series: Closing the care gap in metastatic breast cancer

Metastatic breast cancer patients face a wide array of unmet needs.

Closing the care gap in metastatic breast cancer

Virtual Dialogues series - Breast cancer

Metastatic breast cancer patients face a wide array of unmet needs ranging from access to treatment, psycho-social, supportive and palliative care, financial and professional hurdles and stigma in particular in low-and-middle income countries in which over 50% of breast cancer cases are diagnosed at an advanced stage.

How can the community better ensure they have the support they need, in particular for hard-to-reach populations? How can we drive change to better care for patients with advanced/metastatic breast cancer when there are limited resources?

In this Virtual Dialogue, a number of proposed actions for change were presented to improve and extend the lives of people living with advanced breast cancer in all countries worldwide that constitute the ABC Global Alliance Charter. The conversation showcased and drew upon lessons learned through the SPARC MBC Challenge – national-level initiatives from around the world that are addressing this key gap in information and support for metastatic breast cancer patients.
