Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs)

This digest reports back on the Fourth UN High-Level Meeting on Noncommunicable Diseases, summarising the key discussions and outcomes, including new global targets, and policy directions for cancer outlined in the political declaration. It provides a clear overview of the meeting’s decisions and their implications for future advocacy and action.

This UICC side event explored how inclusive, well-financed, and legislatively anchored national cancer control plans (NCCPs) can drive coordinated action on cancer. Speakers shared country experiences and highlighted the importance of stakeholder engagement, civil society leadership, and private sector involvement.

The fourth High-level Meeting on NCDs will bringing together governments on 25 September to adopt new commitments to accelerate NCD prevention, treatment and care. This asks document has been developed in consultation UICC members and presents the actions needed to reduce the global cancer burden and improve cancer survival and quality of life.
