"The Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) unites and supports the cancer community to reduce the global cancer burden, to promote greater equity, and to ensure that cancer control continues to be a priority in the world health and development agenda."
Tobacco use is the leading cause of Cancer. Zambia acceded to the World Health Organization Framework Convention on Tobacco Control and it is among the African countries facing immense challenges in the fight to protect public health from the harms of tobacco.
As an organization, we are committed to public awareness on the harms of tobacco use, raising awareness and changing behaviour to promote healthy lifestyles and prevent cancer and NCDs from theory to practice. As a member of Framework Convention Alliance (FCA) we work in collaboration to rid the country from the devastating health, social economic and environmental consequences of tobacco and tobacco use. We are a leading advocate and influential voice for tobacco control in the country. We as well strive to prevent tobacco industry influence on public health policies.
