The Johnston Cancer Research Centre (JCRC) at Queen's University Belfast is the lead organisation for cancer research and its translation in Northern Ireland and also co-leads a number of all-island cancer research programmes on the island of Ireland, including the All-Island Cancer Research Institute and the eHealth Hub for Cancer.The research in JCRC is directly linked to the Northern Ireland Cancer Centre, improving outcomes for cancer patients. JCRC houses the Precision Medicine Centre of Excellence, the Northern Ireland Biobank and the Prostate Cancer Centre of Excellence and has strong links to the Northern Ireland Cancer Registry. It has key strengths in cancer epidemiology, cancer health data research, radiation therapy research, colorectal cancer research and cancer policyJCRC has provided leadership to a number of international initiatives including The Lancet Oncology European Groundshot Commission, the International Cancer Benchmarking Partnership, the European Cancer Pulse and has played a leadership role in a number of the European Cancer Organisation (ECO) Focussed Topic Network, particularly in Covid-19 and in crises and emergencies and their impact on cancer. It has an international reputation in cancer data and its deployment to understand cancer and to influence cancer policy
