Integrating older adults into cancer research: London Global Cancer Week

The world’s population is ageing rapidly. There are currently over 703 million people worldwide above the age of 65 years representing 9.1% of the global population. Population ageing will have consequences for cancer control globally as cancer is more prevalent in older adults. However, older people are vastly underrepresented in clinical trials that set the standards for the efficacy and safety of cancer treatments, where this is both an issue of equity and quality of care.
