SPARCs Fly

UICC’s advanced breast cancer initiative has kicked off with overwhelming interest.

Header Paragraph

A total of 82 Letters of Intent (LOI) from organisations based in 46 countries have been received since the announcement on World Cancer Day of the Seeding Progress and Resources for the Cancer Community (SPARC) Grants. The SPARC initiative aims to provide grassroots support in addressing the unique challenges faced by women living with an advanced breast cancer diagnosis.

“It clearly shows how much this initiative is needed!” commented Dr Fatima Cardoso, Chair of the Selection Advisory Group (SAG). The SAG includes 7 international experts who will review all the LOI and select those for further development to determine the grantees. Up to twenty competitively selected organisations will be granted funding to implement novel projects in the areas of advocacy, education, and policy, to maximise impact and outreach to women at risk of, or living with stage III or IV breast cancer.

For more information regarding the SPARC grants, please visit the webpage. Queries may be addressed to UICC’s Global Education and Training Team (GETI) by e-mailing SPARC@uicc.org.

SPARC Metastatic Breast Cancer Challenge Grants have been made possible thanks to an educational grant from Pfizer.
