Improving policymaking to tackle cancer & non-communicable diseases
World Cancer Research Fund International has created a high-level policy advisory group to advise on how we can effectively meet the evidence needs of the global policymaking community.
A new international high-level Policy Advisory Group has been formed to help advise World Cancer Research Fund International on how we can effectively meet the evidence needs of the global policymaking community in developing and implementing policy for cancer and non-communicable disease prevention.
The Group comprises experts involved in policy from government, academia and civil society from Australia, Barbados, Canada, Malaysia, Mexico, Norway, South Africa, the United Kingdom and the United States, as well as observers from the World Health Organization and the Union for International Cancer Control.
Our Policy Advisory Group will provide advice on how we can best interpret and communicate the evidence for policy, produce effective policy outputs and identify relationships and alliances across government, civil society and elsewhere to enhance our policy impact.
Dr Kate Allen, World Cancer Research Fund International’s Executive Director of Science & Public Affairs said: “We are delighted that so many experienced experts from across the world have agreed to join our Policy Advisory Group.”
“Evidence plays an important role in the policymaking process. By bringing together experts involved in policy from government, civil society and academia we aim to identify and respond to the needs of the policymaking community, and ultimately advance the development and implementation of more effective policies to reduce the risk of cancer and other NCDs worldwide.”
The Policy Advisory Group’s first meeting will be held in London, at the end of April.
