As cancer cases continue to rise globally, the demand for effective, quality medicines has never been greater. Dr Julie Gralow of ASCO and the ATOM Coalition shares her insights on the opportunities and obstacles facing countries in improving access to these life-saving medicines.

Dr Julie Gralow, Chief Medical Officer of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), a partner in the Access to Oncology Medicines (ATOM) Coalition, shares her expert insights on the critical issue of access to essential cancer medicines, particularly in low- and lower middle-income countries. As the number of cases of cancer and related deaths continue to rise, there is a pressing need for effective and high-quality medicines. Dr Gralow highlights the challenges and opportunities that countries face in improving access to these life-saving treatments, and addresses the complex issues of affordability, regulation and equity in healthcare systems.
The ATOM Coalition is a global initiative launched by UICC in May 2022 to improve access to essential cancer medicines and now has some 40 partners.
