All 21 candidates are requested to answer the following two questions:

  • What makes you a good candidates for the UICC Board of Directors?
The answers to these questions will be shared with all UICC members during the month of August, as well as all the voting procedures, so that you can start preparing for the elections.

In addition, the candidates for President-Elect will also answer specific questions about their experience. The President-Elect will become the UICC President in 2018.
How were the shortlisted candidates selected?
The Nominating Committee, formed by the UICC President, UICC President-Elect, UICC Immediate Past-President and two members of the current Board of Directors, had the challenging task of developing a strong and representative slate of candidates to be put forward to the General Assembly. It was not an easy job. Over 40 outstanding nominations were received from all over the world, providing proof of the high engagement of members keen to play an active role in UICC.

When developing the slate of candidates, the Nominating Committee, ensured that those selected were familiar with UICC, had an international perspective, possessed experience at the highest level, would be able to mobilise resources for UICC and had relevant experience to represent the diversity of the UICC membership.

The Committee looked into additional criteria when evaluating the nominees for President-Elect to ensure that the candidates had a proven record of chairing large and international boards, understood board governance, were committed to UICC’s strategic direction and were able to contribute to the broad range of issues that face the Board and President.

Finally, but equally important, the Nominating Committee ensured that the slate of candidates had a good range of skills, aligned with UICC’s activities and vision, that all regions were appropriately represented and that the different sectors of the membership were reflected. The Committee also considered the need to balance continuity and renewal of the Board of Directors.

We take this opportunity to thank all members that took part in the nominations process and we wish all candidates the best of luck in this process.

Don’t miss the opportunity to vote for your preferred candidate. Attend the General Assembly, which will be held during the World Cancer Congress, or have another full member organisation vote on your behalf.

If you have not registered for Congress yet, do so now and be part of all the exciting events in Paris.
