Best CEO and World Cancer Day Spirit Award winners still to be recognised in 2020

Extraordinary leadership and creative collaboration to be celebrated at a special edition of the Virtual Dialogues

The unique events of this year have forced some tough decisions and following the announcement that the World Cancer Congress scheduled for March 2021 has been called off, the UICC Awards will also not be taking place as planned.

Yet these times of crisis and challenge have also demonstrated remarkable responses from the international cancer community. To recognise the extraordinary efforts and the work of UICC members, awards in two categories – Best CEO and Best World Cancer Day Spirit – will be given. Categories for Best Advocacy with Impact, Best Public-Private Initiative, Best Patient Group Pavilion Case Study, Best Scientific Abstract and Best Global Village Stand, which are directly related to the World Cancer Congress, will be celebrated at a future Congress.

UICC is therefore maintaining its call for nominations for the Best CEO Award, which acknowledges an outstanding leader in managing a cancer control organisation, as well as for the Best World Cancer Day Spirit Award, which aims at celebrating generous, value-driven partnerships that deliver impact on World Cancer Day.

Nominations for both award categories are currently open and will close on 31st August 2020.

“UICC’s current energies and priorities continue to focus on supporting the international cancer community through change and critical challenges. It is my strong belief, however, that creating opportunities to honour the achievements of our peers and colleagues also hold important value. Examples of exceptional leadership and collaboration within our community are not only a reason for celebration but an important source of inspiration as we forge a path forward, together.”

All UICC members are strongly encouraged to submit nominations. For details and to submit a nomination, please visit the UICC Members Awards page
