My name is Ingrid Stenstadvold Ross and I’m the secretary general of the Norwegian Cancer Society.

Antimicrobial resistance or AMR is a serious global threat, especially for cancer patients. 

Antibiotic-resistant bacteria will set cancer treatment back for decades, while the incidence of cancer cases will continue to rise in the years to come.

We must strengthen our efforts to prevent infections and focus on AMR as a core part of cancer care. 

This has been a priority for the Norwegian Cancer Society for many years.

We’re looking forward to the upcoming high-level meeting at the UN in September. 

We hope for a comprehensive political declaration with real targets, that safeguard equitable access to new antibiotics and highlight the importance of R&D and adequate funding of multi-sectoral National Action Plans.
