World Cancer Research Day 2025 highlights need for inclusive, sustainable research
The campaign for World Cancer Research Day 2025 on 24 September calls for greater collaboration and investment to ensure progress in cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship everywhere and reduce global inequities in cancer care and outcomes.
Research has brought significant progress in cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship. Yet many people around the world still lack access to essential cancer services, and the benefits of innovation are not shared equally.
World Cancer Research Day on 24 September seeks to raise awareness of the central role of research in changing this reality and to mobilise bring together people with lived experience, researchers, and healthcare communities. The campaign notably promotes research that is meaningful, inclusive, and benefits everyone, no matter who they are or where they live.
World Cancer Research Day was launched in 2016 by a coalition of leading international cancer organisations to highlight the importance of research as a driver of progress against cancer. It is supported and promoted by UICC and several of its members, as well as UN partners such as the International Agency for Research on Cancer.
