The Regional Cancer Centre (RCC), Thiruvananthapuram, established in 1981, is a tertiary cancer care centre that provides comprehensive services, including advanced facilities for diagnosis, treatment, palliation, and rehabilitation. As one of six centres established under the National Cancer Control Programme of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, RCC serves as a premier government-owned cancer hospital and research institution.
The Centre undertakes a wide range of clinical, epidemiological, and translational research across various cancer types. RCC maintains both a Hospital-Based Cancer Registry and the Population-Based Cancer Registry (South Kerala), covering the districts of Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, and Kottayam. In addition to its main campus, the institution operates outreach centres in the districts of Palakkad, Ernakulam, and Kollam, extending its reach in cancer prevention, early detection, treatment, and community-level cancer control activities.
