Oncoguia is a cancer patient advocacy organization in Brazil that seeks to strengthen, encourage, and guide people living with cancer to face their challenges in the best way possible. In 2003, President, Founder, and Psycho-oncologist, Luciana Holtz de C. Barros, launched the Oncoguia Portal, a reference website that provides accurate, quality, and digestible information to cancer patients and caregivers about prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer. The success of the Oncoguia Portal demonstrated the need for further action. In 2009, Holtz collaborated with other health professionals and volunteer cancer patients to establish the nonprofit, Oncoguia.Oncoguia supports, informs, and defends patients’ rights by increasing access to quality information, educating the community, providing support services to empower patients, and advocacy. Oncoguia achieves these objectives through programs, events, campaigns, patient navigation, and two main interactive platforms: the Oncoguia Portal and the National Multi-Platform Support Program for Cancer Patients and their Families, which provides resources and support through a toll-free number, email, and WhatsApp.
