The projects are divided broadly into three categories and include the operation of Sri Lanka's first helpline for cancer care services, which include a mobile mammography service, livelihood assistance, financial aid, educational aid and a unique programme that is deemed to be a global hair and wig donation programme. In addition, the Trust also supports patients with examinations, including blood tests / scans as well as with the provision of medication when not available at hospitals, assisting with funerals an initiating Sri Lanka's first hospital-based relaxation programme with music therapy, art therapy and yoga therapy. Indira Cancer Trust has also managed to mobilise funding for both a new paediatric unit and a new radiology wing and hospital kitchen, and the Trust is working with the Nutrition Department of the main hospital in Sri Lanka to renovate the hospital kitchen. The third component is the paediatric care for which Sri Lanka's first paediatric palliative care centre will be set up providing examinations, monthly art and craft camps and another unique programme of giving gifts to children at the cancer hospital on their birthday.
