Aga Khan Health Services, Tanzania (AKHST)

AKHST is a health system that currently has an oncology department, which is en route to becoming a cancer centre catering throughout the whole cancer-care continuum. Cancer control is one of the core activities of the department; actively engaged and collaborating with the Ministry of Health of Tanzania in the development of various national documents crucial for cancer control e.g. the National Cancer Control Strategy; National Early Breast Cancer Detection Guidelines; National Cervical Cancer Prevention & Control Strategy; National population-based cancer registry strategy and National Palliative Care Policy. Furthermore, the department has a Cancer Prevention Unit that actively engages in health education, HPV & HBV vaccination, cancer screening and treatment of premalignant lesions.
