Description

The first Virtual dialogue in the Alcohol and Cancer series took an in-depth look at current research. The conversation provided an overview of the epidemiology and ran through some of the common misconceptions that surround alcohol as a cancer risk factor, as well as provided context for the broader harms of alcohol on individuals, families and communities.

Isabelle Soerjomataram is Deputy Head of the Cancer Surveillance Branch at the International Agency for Research and Cancer. She is an epidemiologist with a strong interest in cancer prevention through provision of data to inform cancer control actions.

Terry Slevin has served CEO of the Public Health Association of Australia since 2018. He holds Adjunct Professorial titles from the Australian National University and Curtin University and has worked in cancer control and public health since 1984.
