The Monash Partners Comprehensive Cancer Consortium (MPCCC)

The Monash Partners Comprehensive Cancer Consortium (MPCCC) is honoured to welcome delegates from the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) on Tuesday, 18 November 2025, for an engaging discussion and exchange of ideas.

This visit will offer delegates the opportunity to connect with leaders in cancer research, care, and collaboration across Victoria. The afternoon will focus on conversation, reflection, and shared learning about MPCCC's unique decentralised model of cancer care and our role in driving innovation and equity across the state.

The session will open with a formal welcome from Professor Christina Mitchell AO, Executive Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences at Monash University, followed by a short video showcasing collaborative achievements and patient impact.

Delegates will then hear a series of ‘spotlight stories’ - brief, high-impact talks from clinical leaders, researchers, and patient advocates, illustrating how decentralised care models translate into real-world improvements. A facilitated discussion and Q&A will follow, allowing participants to exchange ideas and explore opportunities for international collaboration.

The afternoon will conclude with reflections and an interactive activity, encouraging delegates to share insights and takeaways from their time with MPCCC.

Afternoon tea will be provided.

Slip! Slop! Slap! and SunSmart campaigns at Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI)

Cancer Council Victoria is offering personalised tours of its new sponsored exhibition on skin cancer prevention, which is on display at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI). ACMI is the national museum for film and television, and sits in Federation Square, a heritage site since 2019. The exhibition focuses on the films made for the iconic Slip! Slop! Slap! and SunSmart campaigns. It provides insight into the historic background of these campaigns and their broader ramifications. Viewers have the opportunity to wear headphones and experience the films, which have been remastered but retain their historic vibe.

The tour will be guided by Cancer Council Victoria’s historian, Dr Thomas Kehoe, who will provide insight into developing the history, the context in which the ads were made, their effects, and the curatorial process. He will also discuss the benefits of cancer control advocates working with museums to reach new audiences and to bring new supporters into the narrative of cancer control. The tour will take approximately 30 minutes from meeting at the entrance to ACMI, walking through the gallery, spending time at the exhibition, and then answering questions.

Registrations are now closed. If you are still planning to participate, please meet the group directly at the location.

The Australian Centre for the Prevention of Cervical Cancer (ACPCC)

The Australian Centre for the Prevention of Cervical Cancer (ACPCC) is home to the Australian HPV Reference Laboratory, listed by WHO as an HPV Performance Evaluation Laboratory. ACPCC is recognised for its leading role in Australia’s National Cervical Screening Program (NCSP) and its contribution to global cervical cancer elimination efforts.

During this exclusive tour, delegates will:

  • See a wide range of commercially available HPV assays on multiple validated instruments, all of which have been fully validated for cervical cancer screening and used in Australia’s NCSP.
  • Explore point-of-care testing platforms that can be utilised in remote or resource-limited settings, expanding access to timely and accurate results across diverse populations.

Delegates will also discover ACPCC’s role in supporting companies with expert advice and guidance on the production of numerous quality control materials for HPV assays, as well as its active involvement in HPV test evaluations and support with laboratory strengthening in partner countries as part of the Elimination Partnership for Cervical Cancer in the Indo-Pacific (EPICC).

This visit will provide valuable insight into how these innovations are integrated into screening programs of very different scales and resource availability.

Delegates will also have the opportunity to discuss future collaboration, all with the shared goal of accelerating the elimination of cervical cancer and strengthening cancer control efforts globally.
