Reporting back: 74 World Health Assembly

The agenda for this year’s meeting also included several key discussions for the cancer and NCD community including:

• A report and resolution on the social determinants of health, which tasks WHO with stepping up its work and developing interventions aimed at addressing inequities.
• Reports on expanding access to effective treatments for cancer and rare and orphan diseases and the implementation of the Global Strategy and Plan of Action on Intellectual Property, which was be accompanied by a resolution on fostering the local production of essential medicines.
• An on progress in addressing antimicrobial resistance (AMR)
• An update on NCD progress, including resolutions on diabetes and oral health, as well as decisions on mental health and the continuation of the Global Coordination Mechanism on NCDs.
