UICC retrieves World Cancer Day Instagram account

Three weeks after the World Cancer Day Instagram account was hijacked, UICC is fortunate that its control of the account has been restored.

UICC is the lead organiser of World Cancer Day, celebrated on 4th February and one of the most important health awareness days of the year.

At the end of August, the World Cancer Day Instagram account, managed by UICC, fell victim to a cyberattack and could no longer be accessed.

UICC immediately informed its members as well as the wider cancer community about the incident. Requests to restore the account were initially unsuccessful with Instagram as this was neither a technical problem nor considered a violation of intellectual property.

Thanks to the support of its network, however, UICC was put in touch with a helpful contact and is pleased to confirm that the World Cancer Day Instagram account has now been restored.

UICC thanks the community for its support and looks forward to unveiling the new 2022-2024 World Cancer Day campaign in a few weeks.
