Five study grants awarded to further cancer research

UICC is pleased to announce the five awardees of the ​2019 YY study grant call.

Five cancer professionals coming from South America, United States, Europe and Central Asia have been awarded Yamagiwa-Yoshida Memorial International (YY) Study grants giving them the chance to initiate or build on existing international collaborations in cancer research, focussing on basic, clinical and public health topics. The 2019 awardees will visit highly-renowned research institutions in the US, Canada, China and Europe for three months.

Their projects cover a range of different cancer research topics:

  1. The identification of molecules linked to breast cancer progression
  2. Factors affecting access to cancer medicines
  3. The development of computer software analysing the effects that anti-cancer drugs have on cell growth
  4. Studies optimizing drug dosage for children with acute leukaemia 
  5. Comparison of the efficacy of different treatments for hepatocellular carcinoma

YY Study Grants support visits of three months in duration and awards contribute up to 10,000 USD towards travel and living costs.
