2016 Congress Preliminary Programme Hot topics revealed
The global cancer community once again has affirmed its commitment to excellence with a top quality preliminary programme of advanced topics.
A wide array of cross-disciplinary themes has emerged during the selection of the best sessions amongst the 280 submitted proposals. They mainly capture and embrace the latest developments and solutions that exist to further global cancer control today.
2016WCC Programme - Overarching session topics“The 2016 World Cancer Congress (WCC) programme has never been so action oriented. Most of the proposed sessions, across the five tracks, build on globally applicable result-driven strategies that have the potential to bridge the gap between evidence and policy in global cancer control. We also witness emerging themes such as resource stratification, cross country comparisons or cancer economics which remain key topics to further address cancer disparities”, comments Dr Anil D’Cruz, co-chair of the Programme Committee and UICC Board Member
This success is very much a tribute to the endeavour and engagement of worldwide experts to share key learnings and effective tools which can empower the cancer community to advance cancer control globally. It also consolidates the unique status of the World Cancer Congress as the international collaborative platform for exchange and best practice sharing in science implementation.
“We very much appreciate that there is considerable thought and effort in preparing and submitting a session for the Congress. From what I have seen I think all the merged sessions have come back as very strong proposals which I believe will be of greater benefit to the attending audience and are “stronger than the sum of the parts”. I also understand this process is unique to the World Cancer Congress, and so it is especially commendable that those involved have shown commitment to high quality outcome and collaboration with colleagues in cancer control internationally," stated Terry Slevin, Co-chair Track 1 and Director, Education and Research at Cancer Council Western Australia.
The Preliminary Programme, including the themes and speakers of each session, will be released online as of mid-January. Keep updated on worldcancercongress.org.
